The technical OpenGATE meeting took place in Athens this week by BioEmission Technology Solutions – official member of the OpenGATE collaboration – at Demokritos National Center for Scientific Research.

Productive discussions were held in the field of Monte Carlo simulations in medical imaging and radiotherapy.

OpenGATE currently supports simulations of Emission Tomography, Computed Tomography, Optical Imaging and Radiotherapy experiments. GATE now plays a key role in the design of new medical imaging devices, in the optimization of acquisition protocols and in the development and assessment of image reconstruction algorithms and correction techniques. It can also be used for dose calculation in radiotherapy experiments.
